Records indicated that this company was being incorrectly charged £15,000 per annum.
We compiled a detailed report, providing compelling evidence sufficient for the water company to accept a full appeal.
The result was a refund of £90,000 plus cancellation of future charges.
Home Furnishing Retailer – Nationwide
We were approached by a well known home furnishing retailer to look at their sites throughout the UK.
The first site was a 25,000 sqft warehouse facility in an area where we had won appeals in the past and we found that the banding for their size of warehouse was incorrect.
Upon further inspection we determined that our records showed there was a possibility that certain charges should not apply to their building and, as they had been at this location for more than 6 years, we made a full appeal.
After the supply of further evidence the water company refunded £56,000 and cancelled future charges.
Large UK Property Owner – Nationwide
We were contacted by a property owner who was concerned about the general water consumption throughout his property portfolio.
We were contracted to map out all sewer, drainage and meter locations along with collating all water consumption data for the UK properties.
Once the least efficient buildings were identified we then implemented a selection of water saving technology to limit water usage.
This is an ongoing contract to review all new buildings and advise on water sustainability issues and smart metering technology.
Waste Management Company – North–East
This contract was to conduct water surveys on 18 of their sites in the North-east of England.
As a waste management company they were very keen on water sustainability issues as well as any potential overcharging.
We conducted surveys on 10 properties and have found significant overcharges on 4 of them.
We have entered appeals on 4 sites and generated total refunds of almost £75,000 and annual cost reduction of around £15,000.

This client requested we review one of their warehouse locations in Solihull.
We entered an appeal for refunds of surface water drainage and a reduction of their used water charges.
The water company sent their own surveyors to site and we were then asked to produce more evidence to support our case.
Our surveyor produced additional information and our case was successful.
The result was a refund of charges for surface water (backdated 3 years) and cancellation of future charges which resulted in a refund of £20,000 plus cancellation of future charges which resulted in a further saving of about £80,000.
